How to Remove the Rundll32.exe Virus

Rundll32.exe is a Windows operating system component responsible for running certain aspects of applications like Internet Explorer. However, Rundll32.exe is also the name of a virus. By impersonating legitimate software, the virus hopes to get you to delete an important file from your computer by mistake. Instructions

1. Run Windows' Malware Removal Tool, a useful piece of software included on every Microsoft computer. Select the "Start" menu in the desktop's lower-left corner, choose "Run," type "MRT" and hit "Enter." If you encounter problems, download a replacement from Microsoft for free (see Resources section).
2. Click on the "Next" button.
3. Click on "Full Scan." The Full Scan offers a greater chance than the Quick Scan of removing the Rundll32.exe virus.
4. Click on the "Next" button to start the scan. It could take up to an hour.
